Travel Tips for Families on the Road

The first long road trip with children can be a challenge for parents, but careful planning will help ensure a pleasant experience. The following tips offer useful information on traveling with young family members. You can also make some great savings by opting for discount hotel rates that are available online.

Create a checklist for important supplies to bring on vacation, as well as items to make the trip more comfortable, such as pillows and blankets for each child. Hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen provide protection for children during car rides on a hot, sunny day. A favorite toy or stuffed animal can also give reassurance and help occupy the time.

One of the most important travel items for the car is a basic first aid kit. Supplies should include: antiseptic ointment and wipes, bandages, tape and gauze, medication for allergies, antihistamine, Calamine lotion, hand sanitizer, first aid manual, non-aspirin pain relievers, and a thermometer. The family doctor can advise on any additional items. The kit should be packed out of the reach of small children.

If a child has health needs, parents will want to discuss travel plans with the child’s physician before the trip, and review instructions for medication or any special equipment. Directions for medication storage and temperature requirements should also be explained. Once these arrangements have been made, the child and family will be free to concentrate on an enjoyable vacation.

Fun-filled activities to relieve boredom can include word puzzles, connect the dots pictures, and sticker books of favorite characters. A drawing pad, washable markers, and crayons can provide a relaxing, quiet time. For more interactive exercises, families can play portable car games, word games, and share in storytelling.

Music CDs and books on CD can supply hours of entertainment for everyone. A favorite book CD can be purchased or borrowed from the library, and is educational, as well as interesting. Playing music during the car trip also gives an opportunity to sing along.

Breaks for stretching and exercise are vital for everyone’s well-being, especially for young children. Parks, rest areas, and restaurants with play spaces are good locations for the family to move around and release pent up energy after sitting in the car for an extended period.

Bring a healthy selection of snacks for the journey, such as granola bars, oatmeal cookies, pretzels, apple slices, and carrot sticks. Have bottled water and fruit drinks handy and encourage family members to stay hydrated.

At the end of a long day’s drive, the travelers will be looking forward to a good night’s sleep at a child-friendly lodging. Two hotel chains known for family amenities are Marriott and Holiday Inn. Each chain has a variety of locations that include restaurants, pools, fitness centers, special promotions, and programs for kids.

Finally, maintaining flexibility and a sense of humor can also keep the road trip on a happy course for all family members. And when you have made your discount hotel reservations you can look forward to a great time with your family. You can know more about discount hotel rates at www.hoteltattler.com.

Bali Do’s and Don’ts Travel Tips

When one opens BaliVillaHolidays.com, you will really be enticed at how great and magnificent the sites are in Bali. The Bali luxury villas are so attractive and homey that they really invite you to stay in them. There are also the Bali villas resorts that exhibit how wonderfully natural the environment is in Bali and how one can truly have a peaceful and sunny vacation.

When booking your luxury villas in Bali, there are things to remember before going there. Reading on can spell the difference between a disastrous vacation and a happy and memorable one.

Here are important do’s and don’ts for you travel safety.

Do’s:

• Protect yourself from Malaria. This illness, along with dengue, is brought about by the bite of a mosquito. Don’t get yourself entangled in this by always applying mosquito repellant lotion on your skin 24/7.

• Always be aware of Bali’s medical center and its number. BIMC (Bali International Medical Center) 0361-761-263, and SOS Medika (International SOS Clinic) 0361-755-768. Should you feel anything uncomfortable, do call these numbers.

• Use sunscreen. The temperature in Bali is hotter or warmer than in some other countries so your skin may not be used to this. Avoiding getting sunburned or getting skin cancer by protecting with sunscreen. The higher the SPF, the better the protection it gives you.

• Respect the traditions of Bali. If you are not the religious type, do not take their traditions and beliefs for granted. You have to show the same respect you want them to give you. And when entering their sacred temples, do not wear your skimpy shorts and skirts. Instead, cover your legs and exposed parts with a sarong.

• Take note of flight procedures. If you do not strictly follow pre-departure policies, you may end up being left by the aircraft. So research on this and make sure you follow and observe everything.

• Guard yourself from crimes. Everywhere we go, we really have to be extra careful. Tuck in your purse or bag everywhere and do not leave them open on table tops. Tourists are the easiest preys of hold-uppers. You may leave your passport back at the hotel in a secured storage.

Don’ts:

• Do not buy drugs or else, you’ll find yourself in big trouble.

• Don’t get a tattoo art with chemicals. Though the beach is the perfect place to flaunt a tattoo, you may want to save yourself from getting skin irritations or, much worse, diseases. If you like some skin art, opt for the henna tattoo.

• Don’t drink tap water. Drink only mineral or distilled water to make sure that you are drinking potable and safe water.

• Do not go beyond the red flags. There is a reason why it’s being put there. The waters are dangerous and the currents may be too strong.

• If tax has already been included in your bill, do not anymore give any tip.

Staying in the luxury bali villas will definitely be a blast if you will keep in mind the aforementioned tips.

Luxury world cruises are offered in a variety of different packages nowadays. If you do not opt for an all inclusive package then you just might be tipping various personnel on the cruise. The matter of tipping does not have to be a source of consternation and anxiety.

Generally you should plan to tip your steward three dollars per person and plan to do it every day. Your waitress or waiter should also be tipped three dollars. Remember to tip the bus boy as well, that is usually about half of what you would tip the wait staff. Often times however, the wait staff tips out the bussing staff from the tips they accumulate.

On most luxury world cruise ships you are not required to tip the ma

In doing so, this tool captures quantitative data on search preferences of every unique user, thus presenting insights into consumer demands and behavior. This year, Adventure has been the most popular reason for both domestic and international leisure travel with one in every four users searching for such an experience. While destinations such as Auckland and Bali were among the favorites for international holidays in this segment, interestingly some of the most commonly researched domestic adventure destinations were Lansdowne, Auli, Aizawl and Naukuchiatal. There are various adventure options offered at these destinations including Trekking, Kayaking, Skiing and other mountain activities. Interestingly, the trends in domestic adventure travel appear to reflect a greater level of experimentation and maturity of today’s traveller, as they seek a diversity of adventure activities across various regions of the country.A family holiday was the second most important reason for leisure travel with 17.5% users searching for the ideal family destination. While a large number of domestic travellers favored the hills, those seeking international family holidays preferred destinations offering spa and wellness opportunities followed closely by luxury experiences. Destinations such as Bhimtal and Lavasa interestingly ranked amongst the top few domestic family holiday spots while internationally the favourites were Bangkok, Hong Kong, Langkawi and Barcelona. For those seeking international holiday options, Beach holidays emerged as the third most preferred reason to travel, with 18.3% of users selecting such an experience. Some of the most popular international beach destinations are Bali, Phuket, Cape Town and Bora Bora. On the other hand for those looking at domestic travel options, only 9.7% opted for beach vacations, whilst 10.3% chose ‘Honeymoon’ making it the third most common reason for leisure travel within the country. Kodaikanal, Kasauli, Shimla and Srinagar emerged as the hottest honeymoon destinations in India while Goa, Kovalam and Alibag appear to be the favourite beach spots in the country. Some of the other primary reasons for travel included Hills, Backwaters, Heritage, Wildlife, Pilgrimage, Luxury, Culture, Spa & Wellness and Chilling. Air Travel Tips – 3 Must Do Things At The Airport Before You Board The Plane

September 14, 2012 by admin

Article by Alec Chan

There are many important things to do at the airport before you board your flight. It is critical to ensure you get these important things done and done correctly so that you will have the most enjoyable flight possible. Most people sometimes forget these simple things, and therefore may end up having a very stressful trip. Here are the three important air travel tips of things you must do at the airport before you fly out.

Tip #1: Arrive to the airport for check in at least 2 hours before departure

Most airlines start the check in process three hours before departure. However if you arrive too early, there is the issue of having too much time to kill in the airport while waiting for your flight, and also there is the issue that by being one of the first to check in, you are usually going to be one of the last to receive your luggage upon arrival. Therefore it is recommended to arrive to the airport about 2 hours before the scheduled departure to check in your luggage. This optimal timing should provide you enough time to check in, cross through customs and security, and have a minimal waiting time to board your flight.

Tip #2: Go the washroom right before you are ready to enter the boarding gates

This may sound obvious, but many people do not do this and pay the price later. It is a very good idea to go to the washroom right before you are ready to enter the boarding gates to the plane. It is better to get this out of the way so that you can avoid the last minute urge to go to the washroom right when the airplane is about to take off! Also as a plus point, usually the washrooms in the airport are spotless and much cleaner than the washroom on the plane!

Tip #3: Buy any last minute snacks and reading materials

Especially for long flights, you may be stuck in the plane for a long time without anything to do. Therefore while waiting for your flight to depart, it is a good idea to pickup any last minute items such as snacks (such as candy and gum), and reading materials (magazines and books). This way you can arm yourself with things to do during your flight.

Flying can be a tough time for some, simply because of the fact that there are many things to prepare. However if you follow some of these air travel tips, it can help to ease the stress when you reach the airport.

Egypt Luxury Tours – Healthy Cruise Travel Tips

September 11, 2012 by admin

Article by Laura Lanier

Taking the advice of well-traveled cruisers is the best thing for first time cruise passengers to do. After all, why don’t you learn from someone else’s mistakes or mishaps? Of course, you will still have a few of your own, but that’s what makes your first cruising experience memorable.

You’ve got your cruise booked and are counting the days until you set sail. Nevertheless, there are a couple of things for you to do before you actually start to consider packing.

Check with the cruise line to find out what vaccinations, if any, are needed for your journey. You will have to make a trip to your doctor to get current on any shots.

While you’re at the doctor, ask them about tips on staying healthy and staying away from the flu or colds before you depart for your cruise. It’s no fun having to travel sick or canceling completely. Also ask about seasickness remedies. A few of these medications are prescription only.

Stock up on any other prescription medications just in case they are scheduled to run out during your trip. Frequently, insurance companies will make exceptions and permit a prescription to be refilled early if you are traveling with no access to a chain pharmacy. One last thing – get a letter from your doctor on official letterhead listing your prescriptions and stating that they were all legitimately prescribed for you. If you have to undergo customs, a letter will occasionally keep you from being detained while your medication is inspected.

If you are on a special diet, enable the cruise line be aware of this fact when you book your cruise.

The majority of diets are easily covered, but it is always much better to be safe than sorry. A couple of weeks before you leave, check in with the cruise line once more to go over your reservations and special needs diet.

Pack a small first aid kit for those “just in case” emergencies. Include antacids and anti-diarrhea medications for those episodes of “Montezuma’s Revenge” that appear to strike no matter where you travel. Aspirin, antibiotic cream and aloe vera gel for sunburns also come in handy.

Stow away sunscreen, moisturizer and lip balm in your luggage as well. When you’re having too much fun outdoors, you often forget things like sunburn. Be sure to apply the sunscreen lotion prior to heading outdoors. Moisturizer and lip balm keep your skin soft. Sometimes the temperature changes from the cold air conditioner to the heat outside can wreak havoc on the skin and dry it out.

Additionally to the sunscreen, protect your skin by wearing hats and sunglasses.

When you are on the ship’s deck gazing at the waves, the sun’s reflection off the water can be quite bright. The sunglasses will shield you from harmful UV rays from the sun. Of course, the hats will protect you from the sun’s rays and possible sunburn on your ears and face, two places that people occasionally forget to apply sunscreen lotion.

With the right preparation and precautions, you’re well on your way to a healthy and happy first cruise.

And when doubtful about something, ask your cruise line. They want to ensure your cruising experience is trouble-free. After all, they would like you to sail with them again.

The Best Travel Tips To Be Found Anywhere

When traveling to a country where you do not speak the language and you have diabetes, it is important to learn a few key phrases to in the language of the country or countries where you will be traveling. Learn the phrases “I need sugar,” “I have diabetes,” and “I need a doctor.”

Always allow yourself extra time when deciding to go on a road trip. You never know when things like weather conditions and unexpected detours may put a damper on your “good timing” hopes. You also never know when some cool attraction might just be there along the way, so make some time to enjoy your journey to your destination.

Taking time to travel to new areas while on the way to an intended travel destination can help one find new places to stay at for the next time they want to take a trip. Side trips can often yield new and exciting places for one to explore either on their trip or to book a separate trip to experience fully.

Packing light is key to making your travels as easy and free of stress as possible. Bring one carry on bag that includes everything you need, not necessarily everything you want. If traveling to cold weather, bring smaller clothes to create layers rather than big, space-consuming coats and sweaters. Your smart packing will pay off when you are happily carrying one bag around on vacation instead of lugging around multiple bags.

Enroll in the loyal customer club. These clubs reward you with a free night after you’ve stayed a certain number of nights at their participating locations. Even if aren’t planning to stay with them again, enroll anyway. Being a member often entitles you to extra benefits–anything from drinks to internet access–during your stay.

Think of the risks that you are taking in the terms of a vacation plan. You would not make plans for a week-long vacation on an one day vacation budget. If you think about it in these terms, you will likely find that you will not take risks that you cannot afford.

Always make sure you take shoes with you on vacation that you know you will be comfortable in, especially when sight seeing. Never bring new shoes and put them on for the first time when you go out walking. Break them in for a few weeks before you leave on your trip.

A great travel tip if you’re going to go on a cruise is to put up something on your room door so that you can easily find it. A lot of the doors in cruise ships look the same so it’s easy to get lost. Having a picture or something on your door can make it stand out.

When making travel hotel accommodations make sure you call ahead and actually speak to someone at the hotel. Ask about their pet policy to find out if they allow pets and if they charge extra fees for pets. This enables you to choose a hotel that fits well for you whether you are traveling with pets or allergic to pets.

Now that you have a better idea about how you want to go about traveling, you should already have an idea of what you want to do. The information in this article is helpful, but only if you retain it. It might be a good idea for you to reread this article until you remember everything in it so you can use it, whenever necessary.

Easy Travel Tips To Take With You

August 31, 2012 by admin

Article by Dominique Duggins

While traveling to a brand new place can be a great experience, it can also be very stressful. Thankfully, there are many simple things you can do to make sure your trip goes smoothly. Here are a few tips that will make sure you’re able to enjoy the time you spend traveling.

Take advantage of the hotel ice maker when making your next pot of in-room coffee. The ice makers in most hotels are filled with filtered water, while your room only offers tap water. A cup of coffee will taste better if the water is filtered. Fill your ice bucket at night and use the melted ice for your coffee the next morning.

When traveling, even in developed nations, always assume your hands are contaminated. Don’t put your fingers in your mouth and avoid eating with your hands. Chances are good you’ve come into contact with hundreds of people and thousands of surfaces, any one of which could be carrying a disease that you aren’t prepared for.

Pack your prescription medications in your hand luggage to keep with you when you travel. In this way, you will not be inadvertently separated from them if your luggage is misdirected. Be sure to have your doctor document your need to do this very clearly and emphatically. Pack your prescriptions professionally in their original, factory sealed containers to avoid problems with airport security.

When planning your trip, you should shop around for the best deals! Different travel agents and websites have access to different discounts. Also, when discounts are not available, booking directly with an airline or hotel will typically get you a better rate. Make sure to check with various travel agents, travel websites, and also directly with airlines and hotels to get the best rate that you can.

Here’s a clever travel tip for dog owners. To prevent massive shedding when taking a long trip with a dog, brush their fur thoroughly before you leave. This will remove any loose hairs, which will minimize the amount of fur shed in your car. The brushing process will also relax your pet, making them much easier to travel with.

It is normal for people to feel a little nervous when traveling to somewhere new. The best thing to do is take deep breaths and just try to relax. Whatever is going to happen will happen, no matter how much you worry or stress about it. Enjoy the journey, and have fun with it.

Scan your passport and email a copy to yourself. It rarely happens, but in the chance that you lose your passport during your travels, this will be a lifesaver. Getting a replacement passport can be a headache and having a copy can make the process much faster and less traumatic.

Eliminate the costly middleman in travel arrangements. If you use a big name site, there is a good chance that they will charge you an additional transaction fee on top of the cost of your ticket. This can be avoided when you book directly through the airline or the hotel.

Before traveling make sure you get enough sleep. For many people, the few days before their vacation are filled with either stress or excitement, sometimes leading to a lack of sleep. When this happens, you tend to ‘crash’ when you reach your destination, meaning that you waste vacation time because you are already exhausted. A good night’s sleep before traveling will mean that you arrive invigorated and upbeat.

Don’t let the potential downfalls of a trip keep you from having the time of your life. Just keep these tips in mind as you travel, and you should be able to enjoy your vacation to the fullest extent. Instead of worrying about what might go wrong when you travel, you can think about all the great memories you’ll make.
