Mexico

I remember when we first went to Mexico. It was a few years ago, being in San Diego, we decided to go to Sanoviv, just south of San Diego, at a pristine ecological site in Baja California.

Then, we went back later but this time, in a five-star all-inclusive resort in Riviera Maya.

What struck me is that Mexico has it all: gorgeous beaches, mountains, deserts – not to mention rich culture, perfect climate, affordable living, and just about everything in between. Wherever you go in Mexico, you will be seduced, either by the people or the natural beauty of the country.

Being a part of the North America, Mexico enjoys many of the good roads, high-speed communications, and top-notch health care that you’d expect from its neighbour of the north, the U.S.

Did you know that Mexico is one of the world’s top destinations for those dreaming of a relaxed and romantic new life abroad?

Real Estate:In Mexico, you can find your own slice of paradise for much less than you think. There are a lot of nice places where you can find the property of your dream. Mexico offers you a simpler way to live in a place where you don’t have to give up the amenities to which you are accustomed to. For less than 000 a year, a couple can live in Mexico, and that includes everything (healthcare, maid, utilities, groceries, entertainment, telecommunication, etc…).One of the most popular havens is San Miguel de Allende, a charming little mountain town in Mexico’s central highlands. Money Magazine named La Paz one of the best places in the world to retire. Lake Chapala has a broad real-estate selection, with the most reasonable “value for money” property prices.Puerto Vallarta offers pro-tourney golf course, designer shopping and world-class restaurants.Riviera Maya (from Cancun south to Tulum) is considered the fastest-growing region in the country. Equally stunning, Costa Maya (from Tulum south to the Belize border) isn’t far behind.Merida, with all her happy-looking flat-fronted home exteriors, no skyscrapers, Cozumel, a tropical Island and a popular tourist destination, Guanajuato, San Felipe (Baja), Puerto Morelos and Guadalajara are only some of the other amazing places where it is good to live.

Health care:You will find that, in general, health care in Mexico is very good if not excellent. Most doctors and dentists in Mexico received at least part of their training in the U.S. (many U.S. doctors have trained in Mexico, notably Guadalajara) and many of them continue to go to the U.S. or Europe for ongoing training. You will also find a first-rate hospital in every mid-size to large city in Mexico. And yes, doctors in Mexico still make house calls.

Like I mentioned earlier, there is Sanoviv, a cutting-edge healing center that offers integrative, patient-centered medical treatments. At Sanoviv, world-class medical technology is complemented by heart-felt personal care and attention.

If you are looking for a cosmetic surgery but think you can’t afford it, consider this. In San Miguel de Allende, there is a place that pampers you and let you recuperate in a beautiful setting after surgery. You can have your surgery and a three-night stay in a private room in a state-of-the-art hospital. For an additional cost, you stay at the all-inclusive Casa Marino in San Miguel de Allende. The company was founded in 1994 and has a 100% safety record. And, they offer a 100% refund policy.

Business:You can buy your own unique business. Or, you can decide to go the import-export way (in Mexico, you will find pottery, baskets and silver).

Whatever you decide, travel, invest or buy in Mexico, take your time, do some research, you will not regret it.

Article by Robert Kokoska

Mexico, a place where even the day of the dead is a hoot. That’s Mexico for you! Mexico, the most vibrant and lively place on planet earth is a perfect assortment of opposing identities. Standing on the pillars of the Mayan Culture, flaunted by tourists as a traveler’s paradise, Mexico abounds in snow capped volcanoes, desert landscapes and ancient ruins. The modern industrialized cities and the old colonial towns give the country a look that’s at once traditional and modern.

The beaches and unique flora and fauna of the place render a charm inexplicable. Enjoy the pleasures showered by this land of romance, a perfect place to bill and coo. Its beauty, that’s sensuous, goes beyond time and age. Hike the hidden wonders in the untamed jungles, stretch out on the lonely beaches, and probe into the ancient Mayan ruins while you are in Mexico.

What ever you do and wherever you go it is pure fun and the experience purely majestic. A rare chance to snorkel with sea lions! Isla Espiritu Santo has it all. It has everything to thrill the water enthusiast. Row the boats and have a look at the whale sharks. San Cristobal, another spectacular place where culture meets cosmopolitan with its unique costumes, beliefs and customs carried over from Mayan culture are sure to take the visitors to realms unknown.

Immerse in bohemian culture, brush up on your Spanish and booze around the lively bars and experience the exotic Mexico. The Copper Canyon, much deeper and larger than the Grand Canyon still remains refreshingly fresh here. Mexico City is the cultural and the political nerve center of Mexico. On one side it’s glamor and excitement while on the flip side Mexico City is one of suffering and disease. A visit to this city is a must to understand the ethos of Mexico.

If Mexican culture haunts you, fail not to visit Guadalajara. Interspersed with fine museums and galleries, this abode of vibrant culture, a lively nightlife and great food is any body’s dream and delight. Isla Cozumel, the best place to dive is the most populous island in Mexico. The Spanish invasion, hurricane and small pox could not ravish the essential beauty of this island.

The foremost resort town of Mexico, the Acapulco should not be overlooked. Here the romantic history of pirates and ships beckons you, the beautiful lagoons and the golden beeches charm you, the nightlife and cliffhangers challenge you. Though the glory in which it once basked has now become an old tale, where Hollywood stars no longer descend to its honey kissed beeches, still it lures you to its bosom by it’s innate charm. Shopping is good here as the malls are abound in local handicrafts, souvenirs, clothing and jewelry.

Puerto Vallarta offers you a chance to play with dolphins and whales. Once a seaside village, Puerto Vallarta has emerged as an international resort of repute. As said in the beginning Mexico is the perfect combination of opposing identities. Unwind here at the picturesque resort and forget the world.

Mexico is a country of stunning landscapes, beautiful beaches and snow-capped volcanoes. It is known for its rich history, the archaeological monuments of the Aztecs and Maya, the colonial palaces which attract tourists.

Mayan pyramids in Mexico are the real monuments of antiquity. The country has a sufficiently large number of them, but only a few are accessible, since most of the pyramids are covered with thick tropical vegetation, or buried under the soil, so that at first glance they look just like green hills.

Pyramids of Teotihuacan are among the most famous ancient constructions. Two of the largest and best preserved pyramids were dedicated to Maya gods of the moon and the sun. The largest pyramid in the world, the pyramid of Cholula, is bigger than the pyramid of Cheops, but unfortunately the larger part of the pyramid has collapsed. The first-class resorts in Mexico include Cancun, Playa de Carmen, Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, Cozumel, Mazatlan, and others.

In 1325, the Aztec Indians founded Mexico City. Legend has it that the gods commanded the Aztecs to build the capital there. Nowadays it is the oldest and most rapidly developing city of the New World, as well as the largest metropolis in the world. The city is a veritable open-air museum, there are more than 1,400 historical relics and monuments. The surroundings of Mexico City include dozens of parks and recreation centers, more than 2,000 restaurants, more than 80 museums, theaters, concert halls, 8 universities and several academies. The density of the population is enormous.

The area of El Zocalo is the center of the city, it is also known as Constitution Square, the second largest in the world, which is surrounded by colonial-era buildings. The most prominent ones are Cathedral Metropolitano and the Palace of Cortes. The most famous miraculously preserved Aztec building is Templo Mayor. Downtown area of Mexico City is a unique archaeological area with stone foundations of ancient buildings of the Aztecs, dominated by the Catholic cathedral and numerous modern apartment buildings.

A popular attraction is the park next to Alameda. Many tourists also visit the Palacio de Bella Art, where one can see the best works of Mexican culture. The pedestrian zone and the nightlife district, Zona Rosa, are marked by a variety of shops, stores, restaurants and cafes, all located in the heart of the giant megapolis.

Cancun is a network of beaches, resorts and parks, stretching for 140 km along the coast of the Caribbean Sea to the town of Tulum. The city consists of the business mainland and the resort island of 25 km. The coastal waters are decorated with coral reefs, which begin near the island of Conti (the second largest reef in the world). Few resorts can match the beauty of Cancun and the cleanness of the sea. Not far from the place, there is a good selection of archaeological sites and nature reserves, including the clean white beaches.

The port city of Acapulco is the famous ‘Night Capital of Mexico’: the city of entertainment, shows and restaurants. It is known for excellent beaches and restaurants, the Spanish fort of San Diego, and the beautiful Cathedral de la Soledad.

Yucatan Peninsula is the cradle of Mayan civilization and the center of a huge number of archaeological sites, which attracts many fans of action sports and diving.

Travel tips for a colorful Cancun visit

Article by Floresbrowns

After seeing Mel Gibson’s “Apocalypse”, I was really eager to visit Cancun so I checked out for cheap airfares among Aero Mexico, Delta or Air Transat and tried to get the best deal. My travel agent booked me at the Hilton hotel and I retired to start exploring Cancun’s attractions, the next day.

Travel tips in touring Cancun:

Cancun-the culture capital of Mexico has marked a page in world history as the ancient Mayan capital and hence attracts a lot of tourists on cheap flights to Cancun. So it is most imperative to get first hand information on the travel tips while touring Cancun.

Cancun Taxi cabs:

Traveling in and around Cancun is mainly through local taxis or cabs. Al local cabs are white in color with a green stripe and are usually numbered. They normally carry 3 people with luggage and 4 without luggage. The taxi fare in Cancun depends upon the area or zone where we pick it from. I found the taxis to and from the hotels most expensive. It is always wise to bargain and fix the fare with the cab driver first in order to avoid unpleasant scenes. I heard that most hotels share the taxi fare information as a list with the bell boy. So I checked out the cab fare prices to the important sightseeing destinations. One has to be wary otherwise cab fare might turn out to be more than the best airfares we get.

Important information everyone on cheap flights to Cancun should know is that local taxis cannot pick you up from the airport. Local taxis may drop you at the airport .But to go to the hotel from the airport; one can only use the transportation line at the two terminals. Do not get caught in the hands of unauthorized persons or pirates as you may end up paying more.

Buses in Cancun:

Traveling by bus is the cheapest mode of transport in Cancun. But there are a lot of dos and don’ts.

To flag a bus, wave your hand.

Try to get prior knowledge of where to go or alight before boarding the bus.

Most Cancun Bus drivers do not speak English.

Get in by the front and get down at the back

Ask the driver to stop else he will keep going. Look for landmarks and ask the driver to stop there.

Buses travel at breakneck speed.

If the bus is jam-packed, push your way through to get down as none will give way.

Buses cost 7 pesos per trip one-way.

Money exchange in Cancun:

Although all stores and Restaurants in Cancun accept US dollars or traveler checks, the exchange rate will be in their favor. It is always best to exchange the money prior hand at Banks before embarking on a shopping tour.

Other tips:

Always drink bottled water. Even the hotel’s purified water may not be safe.

Hotels pay commissions to concierges, bell boys, maids and service staff. So go by your own judgment or prior information about hotels and restaurants.

Use sunscreen even on an overcast day and especially in water parks.

Crossing the street is a Herculean task. So beware of taxi drivers.

ATMs machines show only pesos. So don’t panic.

Always carry change of at least 20 pesos.

Casual clothing is ideal for touring the town.

Sunscreen, moisturizer, insect and mosquito repellents are a must.

So book your Flights to Cancun and enjoy your Mexican Fiesta fully by following the above travel tips.

Mexico Becoming More Dangerous

Article by www.cheapfares.com

Given the plentitude of cheap travel options including cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation specials to a wide variety of destinations, tourists should be more cautious in deciding whether to visit Mexico given that violence in Mexico is spreading.

The U.S. State Department has warned that Americans should avoid all but critical travel to all or parts of 14 Mexican states. Carjackings, kidnappings, and shootouts are on the rise.

Because of its many cheap travel options, Mexico remains a popular tourist destination to millions of Americans who safety visit Mexico each year. Nevertheless, the State Department is saying that Mexico’s ongoing violence and security concerns are creating risks for U.S. citizens.

Mexico’s drug cartels are struggling violently to gain an upper hand in operating drug trafficking routes and other criminal activity. The State Department alert says in part that “crime and violence are serious problems throughout the country and can occur anywhere. U.S. citizens have fallen victim to…homicide, gun battles, kidnapping, carjacking and highway robbery.”

Over 47,000 people died from drug related violence in Mexico between December 2006 and September 2011. Although most of those murdered were involved in criminal activity, innocent people have also been caught in the violence.

120 Americans were murdered in Mexico in 2011 vs. 35 in 2007. The U.S. travel warning recommends that Americans defer nonessential travel to all or parts of the following 14 states: Aguascalientes, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacan, Nayarit, Nuevo Leon, Potosi, San Luis Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas, and Zacatecas.

Included in the travel warning is advice to exercise caution in visiting all or parts of Baja California, Colima and Morelos. The prior (dated in April ’11) U.S. travel warning concerning Mexico advised Americans to avoid travel to all or parts of 10 Mexico states.www.cheapfares.com

Hotels Going to Extraordinary Lengths

In an age of cheap travel options, where travelers can use the Internet to easily find cheap airplane tickets and discount hotel rooms, hotels are finding that by providing unusual services they can create buzz and build loyalty.

The following are some of the more unique amenities being offered:

• Select Rosewood Hotels, including The Carlyle in New York, have a 24 hour fragrance butler. Upon request he provides a selection of perfumes and colognes.

• A sleep concierge is on hand at the New York Benjamin Hotel who will assess guest sleeping habits and help choose from an extensive assortment of pillows.

• Some hotels have specialists whose only job is to help plan dates and proposals. A “Cupid Concierge” is available at the Opus Hotel Vancouver. A “Proposal Artist” can be found at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf Hotel.

• The Ritz Carlton has different specialists at its many properties, including a tanning butler at its hotel in South Beach Miami, a guacamologist in Dallas, and a vibe manager in Palm Beach.

• A dog surfing instructor works at Loews Coronado Bay Resort in California at its Su’ruff Camp. Given that the Internet has made it so easy for travelers to compare different hotels prices, hotels are now trying to establish unique niches that appeal to guests and set themselves apart from their competition.www.cheapfares.com

The trendy and historically rich neighborhood of Mexico City. Coyoacan is a beautiful colonial neighborhood in Mexico City. It actually used to be a separate town in the past, but over time became part of Mexico City. Even today, amidst the three lined streets and colonial buildings, you can get a feel of life back in the early 20th century. One of the most recognizable symbols is Parroquia de San Bautista, which was built in the 16th century. The church has been well-preserved, and besides religious activities, you can get married here. The church is located in the plaza area of Coyoacan, which is made of Plaza d’Hidalgo and Jardin del Centenario. This is really the heart of Coyoacan during the weekends. Restaurants, bars and cafes line up the plaza, providing a good vantage point for people watching. Coyoacan is famous for its ice cream. During the weekends it has a festive feel with open air markets, musicians, and performers entertaining the locals. I am Erika Zavala, showing you Mexico City.
